The service was quick and simple, finding the service manual easy and it appears to be the original with colour schematics. It contained the info I was after and so sorted the problem.
I have copied it to CD and attached the envelope to the inside back cover of the owners manual. Good manual and excelent service. Robin Wood, Wood Electronics, New Zealand.

This Service manual is very well scanned and its clean to read, no any anti-theft words that un-english could understand. I got my CCD600 working with this manual and it´s clear shematics :)
6. PRECAUTIONS FOR REPAIR: QW-1675 6-1. AC (ALL CLEAR) AND REMOVING OF MODULE
1. Perform AC (ALL CREAR) when inserting a new battery, or else the memories and/or counters may give erratic displays. On removing of the module from the case, please insert the precision screw driver between the module and the case pointed by an arrow.

6-2. ACCURACY CHECKING
Check the frequency of the quartz oscillator (32,786 Hz) with the sensor B of a quartz timer, or switch the module to "ACCURACY CHECKING MODE". Then check the frequency of LCD drive waveforms (32 Hz) with the sensor A of quartz timer. The operations are shown below: A) SWITCHING TO "ACCURACY CHECKING MODE" Continuously push the A, C and D buttons at the same time at the normal time keeping mode. Then all the segments are displayed and the LCD drive signals are changed to the static drive signal of "32 Hz" so that you can check the accuracy with the sensor A of a quartz timer. B) CANCELLATION OF "ACCURACY CHECKING MODE" Push any button. Then the display is returned to its original state. NOTE: The "ACCURACY CHECKING MODE" will automatically return to the regular mode in 1~2 hour(s) without any operation.
