Probably it never existed a 1081 official service manual from Commodore, it's look more like a NAPCEC service manual & diagrams compilation of the 1084 series and his variants, like the nap6523, 8cm505, 1084S, 1084P and obviously the 1081. It's more complete than other scans and the quality of the scans also are far superior. It has two circuit diagrams variants of the 1081, mono and stereo versions. It doesn't include a diagram for the Philips CM8500 or CM8501, they look like the 1081 but they are slightly different.

Operation Connect the power unit, checking jig, or necessary devices defined in each program. Apply the power and press the POWER button.

Starting test program
Unit emits a buzz and ON Status screen appears on the display. Menu 1 screen appears on the display
Press ENTER button. * Refer to page 18 "To Start the Test Program". 3 Changing the menu screen Press "F3" to advance the menu screen. To turn back the menu page, press "F2". * Refer to page 18 for the menu screens. Select the program number on the menu screen. Follow guidances or messages which may be shown on the display. F6 button: Contrast down F7 button: Contrast up

When programs come to the end without an error..... To proceed to other tests, repeat the above operations 3 and 4.
The unit resumes the starting menu screen on the display.

When an error occurs...
The unit emits a buzz and the display shows an error code. * Refer to the error code message on page 35. Press "CLEAR" button. The display resumes the menu screen.
