Alpine could have written a slightly more complete manual, though. It's already pretty huge, but the unit has so many functions, I feel some more explanation would have been better.
Yamaha's manual of their comparable YDSP-1 is a little better in my opinion.

About This Manual
â¢ Depending on the model of your watch, display text appears either as dark figures on a light background or light figures on a dark background. All sample displays in this manual are shown using dark figures on a light background. â¢ All of the displays in this manual show black-on-white. â¢ Button operations are indicated using the letters shown in the illustration. â¢ Each section of this manual provides you with the information you need to perform operations in each mode. This watch features separate digital and analog timekeeping. The procedures for setting the digital time and analog time are different. â¢ In the Timekeeping Mode, you can press D to change the display format as shown below.

Digital Time Daylight Saving Time (DST) Setting Daylight Saving Time (summer time) advances the digital time setting by one hour from Standard Time. Remember that not all countries or even local areas use Daylight Saving Time.
To toggle the Timekeeping Mode digital time between DST and Standard Time 1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A until the seconds start to flash, which indicates the setting screen. 2. Press C once to display the DST setting screen. 3. Press D to toggle between Daylight Saving Time (ON displayed) and Standard Time (OF displayed). 4. Press A to exit the setting screen. â¢ The DST indicator appears on the Hour : Minutes screen only to indicate that Daylight Saving Time is turned on.
Setting the Analog Time Digital Time and Date
Use the Timekeeping Mode to set and view a digital display of the current time and date. When setting the digital time, you can also configure settings for summer time (Daylight Saving time or DST), your Home City code (the code for the city where you normally use the watch), and the 12/24-hour format. â¢ This watch is preset with a number of city codes, each of which represents the time zone where that city is located. When setting the digital time, it is important that you select the correct city code for your Home City. If your location is not included in the preset city codes, select the preset city code that is in the same time zone as your location. â¢ Note that all of the times for the World Time Mode city codes are displayed in accordance with the digital time and date settings you configure in the Timekeeping Mode. â¢ After you correctly set your Home City time and date, you can set the watch up for timekeeping with a different city code simply by changing the Home City code in the Timekeeping Mode. Perform the procedure below when the time indicated by the analog hands does not match the time of the digital display.
To adjust the analog time
1. In the Timekeeping Mode, press C five times to enter the Hand Setting Mode. 2. Hold down A until the current digital time starts to flash, which indicates the analog setting screen. 3. Press D to advance the analog time setting by 20 seconds. â¢ Holding down D advances the analog time setting at high speed. â¢ If you need to advance the analog time setting a long way, hold down D until the time starts advancing at high speed, and then press B. This locks the highspeed hand movement, so you can release the two buttons. High-speed hand movement continues until you press any button. It will also stop automatically after the time advances 12 hours or if an alarm (daily alarm or countdown beeper) starts to sound. 4. Press A to exit the setting screen. â¢ The watch will automatically adjust the minute hand slightly to match its internal second count when you exit the setting screen. â¢ To return to the Timekeeping Mode, press C.
To set the digital time and date 1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A until the seconds start to flash, which indicates the setting screen. 2. Press C twice to move the flashing to the Home City code setting (see the illustration below), and then use B and D to select the code you want. â¢ Make sure you select your Home City code before changing any other setting.
â¢ For full information on city codes, see the âCity Code Tableâ. 3. Press C to move the flashing in the sequence shown below to select the other settings.

World Time digitally displays the current time in 27 cities (29 time zones) around the world. â¢ All of the operations in this section are performed in the World Time Mode, which you enter by pressing C.
4. When the setting you want to change is flashing, use B and D to change it as described below.

To view the time in another city In the World Time Mode, press D to scroll eastwardly through city codes. â¢ The city code is displayed for about one second, and then it is replaced with the current time for that city code. â¢ For full information about city codes, see the âCity Code Current time for the Tableâ. selected city code â¢ If the current time shown for a city is wrong, it probably
means there is a problem with your Timekeeping Mode time and/or Home City code settings. Go to the Timekeeping Mode and make the necessary adjustments.
5. Press A to exit the setting screen. â¢ See âDigital Time Daylight Saving Time (DST) Settingâ below for details about the DST setting.
To toggle a city code time behM en Standard Time and Daylight Saving Time 1. In the World Time Mode, use D to display the city code whose Standard Time/Daylight Saving Time setting you want to change. 2. Hold down A for about two seconds to toggle between Daylight Saving Time (DST displayed) and Standard Time (DST not displayed). â¢ The DST indicator is on the display whenever you display a city code for which Daylight Saving Time is turned on. â¢ Note that the DST/Standard Time setting affects only the currently displayed city code. Other city codes are not affected. â¢ Note that you cannot switch between Standard Time and Daylight Saving Time while GMT is selected as the city code.
